In support of his debut album Every Kingdom, breakout British musician Ben Howard will embark on a nationwide tour this fall. See reverse for complete details. Every Kingdom, out now on the taste-making independent label Communion Records (brainchild of Mumford and Sons’ Ben Lovett), debuted Top 10 on the U.K. charts and is now certified Gold. Additionally, the music continues to garner widespread praise—The New York Times explains, “Howard’s songs…cascade from his fingers, gathering words and melodies as they go, carrying his reedy, tremulous voice as their crescendos surge,” and NYLON Guys calls the album “a mélange of intricate acoustic guitar work and sweet, hum-along choruses.” Furthermore, NY Daily News lauds the record as “fired by flinty textures of guitar,” while Philadelphia Inquirer describes it as “touched by tender lyricism.”
The young acoustic singer-songwriter, whose celebrated live performances have resulted in back to back sell-out tours to a rapidly growing fanbase, recently completed the first leg of his U.S. run, including special performances at SXSW and a sold-out solo show at The Bowery Ballroom in New York City. Buoyed by the incredibly supportive European surf community, Howard is eager to perform on the West coast for the first time this summer, having already sold out dates in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. He will also continue to support the new release on the U.S. festival circuit with shows at The Sasquatch! Music Festival and Bonnaroo.
Every Kingdom was recorded in a converted barn nestled between the countryside and the sea. It turned out darker in its lyrical content than he imagined it would and is filled with natural imagery of the Devonshire landscape where Howard grew up and presently resides. The album has received high praise from the British press and influential stations such as BBC Radio1, and Howard is now set to perform on BBC’s “Later with Jools Holland.” Howard’s song “Promise” was recently featured on the hit Fox television series “House.” See the video for the current single “The Wolves,” which is being spun on U.S. radio, here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLQaGEI5D2Q&feature=youtu.be.
