CHRIS TAYLOR UNVEILS NEW PROJECT CANT
DEBUT ALBUM DREAMS COME TRUE OUT NOW ON TERRIBLE RECORDS
FALL TOUR STARTS OCTOBER 1
“The instruments are spooky and melted down, mingling brittle signature timbres with wavering acoustic ones; vocals that float out of shadowy echoes and easily disappear back to them.” —The New York Times
Dreams Come True, Chris Taylor’s first solo album under the moniker CANT is out now on Terrible Records. Taylor, vocalist, bassist and producer for Grizzly Bear, collaborates with Twin Shadow’s George Lewis Jr. for the new release. As CANT, Taylor will begin a North American tour October 1 at The Doug Fir in Portland, OR. The touring band includes Dev Hynes (Blood Orange, Lightspeed Champion, Test Icicles), John Kirby (Sebastian Tellier) and Guillermo Brown (Jamie Liddell, Arto Lindsey). Please see below for complete list of dates.
Partnering with Lewis, whose recent and critically acclaimed record Forget was produced by Taylor and released on Terrible Records, the pair wrote and recorded most of the material in a week and a half in a bedroom connected to what used to be Allaire Studios, where Grizzly Bear recorded 2009’s lauded Veckatimest. Of the release Spin says, “This full length debut confirms Taylor’s love for Arthur Russell’s underwater electronic grooves” while Consequence of Sound called the album “a dreamy mixed bag of Taylor’s distant-yet-warm vocal stylings and a mish-mash of’80s synth and drums.”
