KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD CONFIRMS
SPRING/SUMMER TOUR

HOW I GO DEBUTED AT #1 ON BILLBOARD BLUES ALBUMS CHART

10 DAYS OUT: BLUES FROM THE BACKROAD DVD CERTIFIED PLATINUM

“Called a blues prodigy for years, Kenny Wayne Shepherd has now vaulted to master.” —Boston Globe

World-renowned musician and guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd will tour this spring and summer in support of his most recent album, How I Go (Roadrunner Records/Loud & Proud), which came out August 2, 2011. Performances include three special dates at New York’s City Winery May 21, 22 and 23. See below for complete tour details. In addition to longtime collaborator and lead vocalist Noah Hunt, Shepherd’s band features drummer Chris Layton, bassist Tony Franklin and Riley Osbourn on B-3 and keyboards. Of a recent live performance, the OC Register heralds, “Shepherd and his band ruled the evening. He got ample help from a splendid band that included former Stevie Ray Vaughan drummer Chris Layton and ex-Firm bassist Tony Franklin.”

How I Go, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Blues Albums chart and #52 on the Billboard’s Top 200 chart, was awarded 3.5 stars by USA Today and described as a, “strong collection of Southern-inflected blues-rock originals and covers,” while Premiere Guitar asserts, “Shepherd is now at the height of his creativity. How I Go displays the full range of his musical influences mixing Southern rock, heavy rock, blues, and good old rock ’n’ roll.” Additionally, Shepherd recently performed the album’s first single, “Never Lookin’ Back” on ABC’s "Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The official music video for the song is available to view here. Moreover, Shepherd’s two-time Grammy-nominated 2007 documentary 10 Days Out: Blues From The Backroad was recently certified Platinum as Music Video Longform.

Released August 2, How I Go is Shepherd’s first since 2010’s Grammy-nominated live album, Live! In Chicago. Of making the new record, Shepherd comments, “At this point, most people who know about me know I can play guitar. As far as my approach to guitar on this record, it’s not about showing people how much I can play. It’s about really choosing the right notes and playing them at the right times so that every note penetrates people, and they feel it inside and it’s not just some fleeting thing that just goes right by them.” He goes on to say, “I wanted to be conservative, and selective, and tasteful in the solos that I did. I wanted to concentrate on the song as a whole: the vocals, the arrangements, so every instrument that is being played contributes to the song and takes it to a better place.”
