RISING AUSTRALIAN PRODUCER KITO’S “STRAWBERRIES” PREMEIRES ON COMPLEX

FEATURES ELLEY DUHÉ, TRINIDAD JAMES AND KODIE SHANE

NEW EP HAANI DUE SEPTEMBER 7

Strawberries,” the new single from rising Australian producer Kito, premieres on Complex, who proclaims, “Kito has returned with a bright new single…that should add some warmth to your playlists before fall arrives.” The track—featuring collaborations with Elley Duhé, Trinidad James and Kodie Shane— will appear on her forthcoming EP HAANI out on September 7. Of the song, Kito says, “I’m so excited to release ‘Strawberries.’ All these features ended up on this track in different ways. I had the Trinidad James hook from a session we did a couple of years ago. Elley and I worked together in L.A. last year on a track for her album, and then I played her the idea and she loved it so we got back in to work on it. I worked with Kodie on the same trip and she recorded her part in Atlanta. ‘Strawberries’ is about getting lost in a cloud with someone you care about, and enjoying that moment in time with no worry for the past or future.”

The new music marks Kito’s first solo release since 2012, a return to her own project after spending years becoming a sought-after producer in London working with the likes of Mabel and Jorja Smith.

A 2017 break-up led Kito back to her remote, Australian seaside hometown where she began work on the HAANI EP. It’s her most accomplished release to date and features collaborations with Shy Girls, Broods, Tara Carosielli, and Hudson Mohawke.

For Kito, a teenage obsession with Fruity Loops turned into a career when she sent Diplo her demos and that followed an invitation to release on Mad Decent. Since then, she has played in clubs from Shanghai to Paris and released music on the legendary French label Ed Banger. And recent months have seen her work with artists such as Kacy Hill, Tommy Genesis, Wafia and Normani.
