December 19, 2025—Global ambassador of Mexican music Carín León gives his fans a special Christmas gift: the release of his second December album, Chapayeka (Puro Chucky). The production is available now on all digital platforms. Listen to/share the album HERE.
The surprise release comes one week after unveiling the original version of the album, Chapayeka, an extensive 20-track project featuring 15 guest artists that served as a tribute to traditional Mexican music.
On Chapayeka (Puro Chucky), León includes 17 of Mexican music’s greatest hits, reimagined alongside his guests and Antonio Zepeda, who helmed the production. “Mi único camino,” released in 1978 by norteño group Los Cadetes de Linares, is the lead single from this new version.
Like the original version, the production pays homage to Mexican vernacular language and incorporates the term puro chucky, a Hermosillo culinary slang that denotes high quality.
The extensive body of work, totaling 37 tracks, was recorded entirely live in the La Matanza neighborhood of Hermosillo, Sonora—Carín’s hometown and an iconic place from his childhood.
Chapayeka (En Vivo) and Chapayeka (Puro Chucky) are part of a holiday tradition Carín León established five years ago: delivering a year-end gift to his fans in the form of a new album.
With these albums, León caps off the best year of his career, in which he earned his first GRAMMY® Award, his fourth Latin GRAMMY® win, released Palabra de To’s (Seca)—the deluxe version of his 2024 December album Palabra de To’s and nominated for the 2026 GRAMMYs®—and delivered high-caliber bilingual collaborations that solidify him as the leading voice of contemporary Mexican music in the United States.
