CHERRY LANE INTRODUCES NEW SLATE WITH TWO SEPARATE PLAYS RUNNING EACH NIGHT

PREVIEWS BEGIN OCTOBER 7 WITH OPENING NIGHT SET FOR OCTOBER 18TH

August 24, 2026—The historic Cherry Lane Theatre unveils its fall programming with School Pictures and Two Girls — a new slate showcasing two different plays. School Pictures will be nightly at 7pm with Two Girls to follow with a 9:30pm presentation. Tickets will be sold separately, and the shows are not intended as a double feature. SCHOOL PICTURES: Faith hates reading, Jane has lost her flashcards and Javier sees no point in studying because of climate change. Returning to New York after an acclaimed, sold-out run at Playwrights Horizons, this musical journal documents parenting, inequality and the cruelty of puberty in the NYC school system with humor and wit. School Pictures is written and performed by Milo Cramer (Cute Activist, Minor Character) and directed by longtime collaborator Morgan Green.

TWO GIRLS: In its world premiere this fall, Two Girls revisits one of the 2000s’ most viral shock-porn videos, using verbatim dialogue to construct a strange, irreverent examination of sex, disgust and the body. This darkly funny two-hander explores what we look at as we develop our sexualities and why we can’t look away. The show is written by Eliya Smith (Dad Don’t Read This, Grief Camp), developed with experimental theater ensemble The Goat Exchange (Time Passes, Deadclass Ohio) and Cherry Lane Theatre, directed by Chloe Claudel and Mitchell Polonsky and stars Claudel and Juliana Sass.

As the oldest Off-Broadway theatre in New York City, the century-old Cherry Lane Theatre has long been a staple in New York’s cultural landscape. Acquired by A24 in 2023, the theatre has undergone a multi-year renovation with all of its technical equipment updated; new seating, film projector and screen installed and the lobby upgraded. Reopened in September 2025, its programming includes theater, comedy, music, film and more.
